Onboarding Email 5: 48-Hour Reminder

Staff
Applicant & Hiring
Warm

Email 5 of 5 in the 90-Day Onboarding System. Send it 48 hours before Orientation. Shorter. A logistics reminder plus one human moment. By this point the new hire has their uniform shirt and knows the basics, so this email is short on purpose.

BEFORE YOU SEND

  • Keep it short. Where to park, which door, who to ask for, what to wear, what to bring, and when it ends. That's the whole job of this email.
  • The one human moment is the training partner setting up their space. Name the real person and the real room.
  • After you send: confirm the classroom or workspace is set up (cubby labeled, supplies, name tag), confirm the training partner is scheduled for the first two days, brief the team on the arrival date, and block 30 minutes on day one for the director's one-on-one and 5 minutes at the end of the day for the first End-of-Day Debrief.

What Not To Say

Why this email works

  1. It's sent 48 hours before Day 1, when most new hires spend those last two days wondering if they made the right choice.
  2. It's a warm logistics reminder with the name they'll ask for at the door, so nothing about arriving is uncertain.
  3. It's the single warmest message in the sequence, and it's short on purpose: they already have their shirt and know the basics.
  4. "[Training Partner Name] is excited to meet you" tells them someone is already expecting them.
